“I’ve always liked Riku. No doubt it has a little to do with how good looking he is, but it’s more than that: it’s his character. In the first game, he was motivated by his curiosity, and it caused him to make a few wrong decisions. But even so, he was able to resist when it mattered, and he then ended up prepared to sacrifice everything for Sora. Even his keyblade changed with him, and I like that it all concludes with him receiving the Mark of Mastery. I don’t know what I’d do if he had failed”

“I am so sick of people trying to put Riku in Slytherin.”

Submitted by rikudera

I may be opening a can of worms by chucking in my two cents but what the hell.

Slytherin is the most understood house because of all of the dark wizard attributed to that house, while Salazar Slytherin himself was a racist, elistist, ass it doesn’t make the rest of us the same. The defining traits of a Slytherin are cunning, resourcefulness, and ambition, a Slytherin is the type of person who would make a deal with the devil to further their goals, then try to outwit the devil.

If I’m not mistaken, Hogwarts students are sorted at the age of eleven, so let’s focus on the progression of Riku from BBS to KH1. At the age of 5, what little we see of Riku is shown to be driven by an obsession, a dream to leave the islands and grow stronger, the reason he gives is “To protect the things that matter”. He accepted the promise of power form Terra and it’s not a far leap to assume that he spent every day anticipating the day he could leave his island. That could be why Riku is so muscular in KH1, he spent every day in preparation of the day he would get out and put his power to use.

Riku opened the door to darkness and seized the opportunity to see the outside world. He wasn’t afraid because this was what he waited his whole life for. On the other side, somewhere along the way he crossed paths with Maleficent and made the metaphorical deal with the devil for his power. And he did protect what mattered to him, being adamant about protecting Kairi, but his jealousy of Sora made him lose himself and when he began to slip is when the darkness began to take him and when Ansem took his body the focus turned from protecting Kairi to attaining her heart to complete the Keyhole. But even then, he wouldn’t let Ansem use his to harm Kairi and Sora’s friends.

Not taking into account Riku’s growth post-KH1 and the whole darkness being evil and Slytherin being evil thing, Riku was driven by ambition and did whatever he could to make his dreams come true. And for that, makes him a perfect Slytherin to me. Just sayin’.

“I think Larxene is an awesome character. I just hate it when everyone labels her as a total bitch, because she’s got so much potential to be more than that. I wish Square would hurry up and give her history already.”

I actually agree with this so much. Larxene is a very interesting character for the fact that she’s mean for the hell of it. Out of all the villains she’s the most cruel because she has no reason to be, the only other villain I can think of that’s in the same ballpark of brutality as her is Vanitas, but he was a creature composed solely of darkness so it was literally in his nature to be cruel.

Larxene though, was a Nobody, it was never known if she grew a heart or why she was so cruel, she just was. And I love that. There’s so much potential for her and I don’t want to see her become a Xehanort before it surfaces.
